Adrienne Schlow is a Boston-based mixed media artist. An obsessive doodler and maker-of-things as a child, Adrienne studied art at Phillips Academy Andover and the SMFA, as well as creative writing at Emerson College.
Gestural abstractions, often working with accidents, layers of related poses verses a sketch and a plan. This defines some of Adrienne’s work, while other large-scale mixed media pieces interweave images which rely on each other to be seen individually as well as collectively.
Adrienne’s work circles around the female subject – – often simply examining roles chosen by and imposed on women in our society, our families, and our romantic relationships.
She lives in the South End neighborhood of Boston nearby her SOWA studio with her husband Michael and their two daughters Petra and Axelle.
